Breathe.  Inhale…..exhale….breathe.

Breathing is the first act, and the last, of life.

Breathing is the first act, and the last, of life.  There is no life without breath.  The whole universe is created with just one breath.  Breath is life.  With one last breathe, it all ends.

We take up to 20 breaths per minute. It adds up to about 30 000 per day.  Every cell in your body inhales the oxygen and exhales the carbon dioxide – a process called respiration.  Yes, your cells breathe.  They constantly need a new supply of oxygen so they can produce energy.  Energy to live.

We automatically know we have to breathe.  Our brains are programmed to go through the motion and our bodies go along with the act. Breathe in through the nose, out the mouth.   Your nose has vital nervous system connections to your lungs and heart and what you smell, can affect your emotions.

When last did you stop to take a deep breathe, smelling the air around you and then hold your breath before exhaling.

When last did you stop, relax your shoulders and your hands, lifted your chin to the sky, closed your eyes and breathed.

When last did you just stop, sat down and closed your eyes.

Breathing is life.  We need it.  When we take our last breathe, it is done, our purpose fulfilled.

I don’t want to just exist.  I want to breathe.  I want to live.  And life is not just about running from one day to another.  It’s about breathing in the beauty around me. I want to sense the different smells, I want the breathe in the different colours.

Deep breathing doesn’t just change your body physically, breathing in positive instead of negative energy changes you emotionally, and spiritually it can take you to another level of awareness.  Deep breathing makes you aware of your senses and when you close your eyes, you can feel, touch, hear, smell and even taste beauty around you.  This is when you truly start to live.  Your focus changes from yourself to becoming aware of life around you. You start to see your purpose.

Close your eyes.  Place both hands lightly on your belly. Exhale ALL the air out your lungs through your nose.  Now inhale (through the nose) slow and strong right down into your belly, pushing your hands softly outward.  Exhale again, all of that air.  Inhale thoroughly.  Keep moving your hands with your breath, up and down, up and down.

Now open your eyes and take a look around you.  This is life. This is your purpose. This is why you breathe.
